Astronomy

What is Astronomy?

Astronomy is the study of space, galaxies, planets, and other objects outside the Earth. It uses math, physics, and chemistry to understand the formation and expansion of the universe, as well as predict what will happen in the future in regards to its growth. In this course, we will go over a general overview of the universe.

The Course

Topics covered in the course (as defined by NGSS) include:

  • The Solar System

  • Gravity and Inertia

  • Planets, dwarfs

  • Moons

  • Asteroids, comets, Asteroid Belt, Kuiper Belt

  • Stars, double stars, their activity

  • Constellations

  • Supernovas, gas clusters

  • Black holes, quasars, wormholes
