The Science Learning Foundation
Our Mission
Science plays a vital role in today's world, and many students need more opportunities to learn it. The Science Learning Foundation strives to make science easier to access to children by providing quick and accessible in-person and online lessons to aspiring scientists. We offer free weekly online classes on a variety of science topics, with each session lasting anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour. Our courses are also aligned with the Next Generation Science Standards set by the National Research Council (NRC) in order to best prepare budding scientists for future high school science courses.

Excerpt From Archaeology
How do you think we know so much about our past, some of it dating back to before the human race had a proper language and a way to record events? While we do rely on written works for more recent events, like World War 2 for example, much of what we know of society from before language and writing was invented stems from archaeology. Archaeology is the study of human history (and prehistory, meaning our human-like ancestors) through the excavation of sites and the analysis of artifacts and other physical remains. Archaeologists classify sites as prehistoric, or historic; with the difference being historic sites can have writing to use as reference and aid, while prehistoric sites cannot. [...]

Our Course Learning Objectives
Our courses are designed to align with the Next Generation Science Standards, a new program instituted across the U.S. school system that better prepares students to enter science-related fields than before. By taking these courses, students will be prepared at a younger age for the more rigorous curricula they will experience in school. All of this is done while still maintaining a friendly and exciting environment for students to cultivate their passion for science.

Adrian Gore, President & Founder
Adrian is an aspiring medical researcher and a senior at Dougherty Valley High School, who has a passion for teaching science to others. Since he was 12, Adrian was captivated by the studies of anthropology, human anatomy, biology, and astronomy. Outside of The Science Learning Foundation, Adrian loves to play chess, read and write science articles, and go biking with friends and alone.
Volunteering!
Volunteers are a key aspect of our organization. At The Science Learning Foundation, student volunteer instructors help teach younger students important material covered in the course, answer any questions students may have, and ensure that students are learning and having fun! Student volunteer outreach and marketing members help spread the word about what our organization offers, and create content explaining what we do.
